When I think of Dean Kamen, I think of this essay.
Unfortunately the segway is what Kamen is most known for.
But his awesome brilliance is shown through stuff like -- iventing the insulin pump, all-terrain wheelchairs, an amazing water-purifying system developed for use in Africa and other places, and pretty much a lot of things in the last 15-ish years involving the Stirling engine design (which he apparently seems to make love to like a straight man would make love to a beautiful naked women)
